A Folk Song Life Of Christ (E&M EMLP-005) 1966

Retreat Singers - A (Fnt)

A Folk Song Life Of Christ is exactly what the title says. The Retreat Singers are another one of those Episcopal teen ensemble deals with guitars and percussion, using both spoken bits and songs to portray the life of Christ. Very similar to The Wind Children with the minor-key Hebrew moods and all – in fact it’s arranged and introduced by the same guy: the Rev. Edgar E. Shippey. Juggles between stuff with the whole group and several more interesting individual performances. Their second release is a more developed presentation that spans two records. From Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Little Rock, Arkansas. (The Archivist by Ken Scott, 4th Edition).
