Live At St. Mary’s Cathedral (Finlayson LC-1001) 1978

 

 

Live recording featuring black singer Larry Finlayson on acoustic guitar, with assistance from his band on flute, piano, bass and percussion. The performance has a simple pleasant folk/worship tone as they work through covers of songs like ‘The Spirit Of The Lord’, ‘Have You Seen Jesus My Lord’, ‘Ole Time Religion’, ‘Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace’, ‘I Believe’ and ‘Hallelluia’. He apparently also digs John Denver, slipping in covers of ‘Matthew’, ‘We Don’t Live Here Anymore’ and ‘Poems, Prayers & Promises’. Also a few brief spoken portions. It all took place on July 30, 1977 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in San Francisco. Back cover states that Larry was involved in the Catholic Cursillo movement. Nice butterfly design on the front.
