Someone Like Me (Oblate OBLP 1001) 1981

While most female Christian singers were doing the pop thing in 1981, Sylvia Dunlap privately released this engaging collection of ten original folk tunes that recalls simpler times. Graceful acoustic guitar is enveloped with dreamy synthesizer accompaniment and velvety flute work, with Dunlap’s captivating vocals leading the way. Attractive use of harpsichord on ‘Song Of Solomon’, harmonica on ‘Peter Was A Fisherman’. Sometimes a light country edge on the more upbeat tracks. Shown on the cover in a long white dress, barefoot, leaning back against a column, playing her guitar. Catholic I’m assuming since there’s a reference to the Missionary Association Of Mary Immaculate. From San Antonio, Texas. (The Archivist by Ken Scott, 4th Edition).
