Break Forth And Sing For Joy (no label NR5675) 1975

Seven young Jesus people types from Cedar Falls, Iowa with a wonderful jubilant homemade Jesus rock sound. Mostly the ladies on lead vocals backed by some raw electric guitar, jamming piano, dreamy mello-tron, bass and drums. Ranges from heavy rock with fuzz (the opening ‘Satisfied’) to rural folk-rocking (a cover of The Way’s ‘If You Will Believe’) to acoustic ballads with psychy guitar and echoey vocals (‘Listen To His Voice’). Parts reminded me of Living Sacrifice Band, especially on songs like ‘Dance With Joy’ and ‘Psalms 98’ that build from quiet acoustic sections to louder rocking passages. Also energetic versions of Paul Anka’s ‘Jubilation’ and Ashford & Simpson’s ‘Sinner Man’. Great stuff! Generic sun-behind-the-mountains cover – I’ve seen it on at least a dozen other albums. (The Archivist by Ken Scott, 4th Edition).

Thank you Ken for the front cover photo. Thank you for the track list.
