Somebody Loves You (Artist’s Recording 780724) 1978?
Eight self-written songs, along with covers of ‘Let It Shine’ and ‘Gospel Changes’. Sometimes enhanced with electric piano and synthesizer, plus a few steel-guitar country touches, although personally I think they’re at their best in a simple acoustic mode, as on the excellent moody title ballad. ‘Jesus – My Friend’ has a nice lively acoustic melody, while ‘The Gift Of Life’ inches the duo’s sound toward rock. Credit cards provide the inspiration for the humorous talk-sung ‘The Master’s Charge’ (decent fiddle work and acoustic guitar solo). (The Archivist by Ken Scott, 4th Edition).
