A Simple Song Of Love (Light LS-5670-LP) 1975

Light and fluffy guy/gal pop outfit living up to their Sonshine moniker. Doug Howell is involved, donating one song (‘Sunshine Song’) and contributing some synthesizer and vocal arrangements. Covers of John Fischer’s ‘All Day Song’ and Randy Matthews’ ‘Didn’t He’. A touch of country and steel guitar on some songs. Overall too happy and mellow for me, but some cuts like ‘Peter’s Song’, the lightly disco-fied ‘Beginnings’ and the acoustic ballad ‘Words’ seem to hold up okay. Some similarities to Howell’s band New Jerusalem. The group also recorded a lesser collaborative lp with Good News Circle called Circles Of Praise (Light LS-5731). (The Archivist by Ken Scott, 4th Edition).
