Walkin’ On Fencetops (Son Shine CS 3503) 1978
Good custom soft rock often with a sprightly jazz-rock edge as well as some progressive touches with creative use of synthesizer. Art plays 6 and 12-string guitar, electric guitar and mandolin. Classy keyboards from Thomas Tomasello include Fender Rhodes, piano, clavinet, organ, synth strings, synthesizer and harpsichord. Background vocals by a male/female trio called His Children. Parts remind me of Clockwise and Terry Ross Altman’s Crosswalk. Art wrote all ten songs, the standouts for me being ‘Reach Out #1’, ‘Eternity’, ‘Sinking’, ‘Where Were The Friends?’, and ‘Man At The Side Of The Road’. Very striking colorful cover art. (The Archivist by Ken Scott, 4th Edition).
Tracks:
01 – Singin’ Songs
02 – Walkin’ On Fencetops
03 – Sinking
04 – Where Were The Friends
05 – Man At The Side Of The Road
06 – Reach Out

Hi Art,
You probably don’t remember me but I will never forget you.
I only met you once at a bible camp in northern California through the 1st Christian Church of Fairfield CA.
You were there as a entertainer and a mentor, this was somewhere around 1983 I believe.
I purchased your take “Stagecoach” as a cassette and it quickly became my favorite, in fact I listened to it so much that I memorized my favorite songs.
“Purpose in your heart”, “Sinking” and the one that starts “Angels of the Lord they camped about us” and singing them have given me much comfort when I was in pain, especially since my Name is Daniel. 🙂
I just wanted to thank you for taking your time to come to that camp, I know you may have never known it but your presence and your songs have forever changed my life.
Many years ago that cassette was destroyed and I would love to find a way to replace it, if your songs are available somewhere can you please notifiy me.
Thank you forever in Christ.

Hello Daniel.. I guess I didn’t see your note until now. Drop me a line if your’e still around.
Hi Art,
I was at a Baptist camp around 1979 or so and you gave me your Walking on Fencetops record. I listened to it and memorized just about everyword. I don’t know what became of the album…along with all my other albums, but this morning the scripture I read was John 15 and I immediately started singing Abide and WISHED for the album. Is there any digital copy available to buy?
