Of One Accord (No label 39279/80) 1978
One of those charming home-made Catholic folk productions featuring four girls and two guys from Port Arthur, Texas. Good original song-writing arranged with catchy melodic blend of 12-string guitars, flute, electric bass and percussion. Touching male/female harmonies render such titles as ‘Songmaster’, ‘Praise & Thanks To Yahweh’, ‘Cross of Shame’, ‘Simon Peter’, and ‘Let Your Face Wear A Smile’. Nice guitar work as well, including a few simple leads. Features eleven of their own songs, ranging from jangly unpluged folk-rock to simple gentle folk to stirring sincere ballads. Some very precious moments in here – those attracted to artists like Ellis & Lynch should find an equal delight in this group’s uplifting style. Their name is based on the Greek word “kainos”, meaning opportunity or time. (The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
A special thank you to Chuck for providing the music.
