Bubble Joy (Avant Garde AVS 125) 1970

Easygoing simple folk lp that almost sounds like a Medical Mission Sister gone solo. Childlike whimsy surfaces frequently on tracks like ‘Magical Box’, ‘Does God Ever Laugh?’, ‘Bubble Joy’ and ‘Hip Hip Hurray’. Other titles: ‘Celebrate Life’, ‘And The Word Was Made Flesh’, ‘Evolution’, ‘Where The Spirit Leads’, twelve of her songs in all. Features Elaine on acoustic guitar, plus assisting musicians on bass, celeste and additional guitar (including some light electric). Worth it just to hear her sing “God socks it to us with joy in every way”. At the time of this recording she was part of a liturgical musical group at St. Francis Community in New York City, as well as a secretary by day and a college student at night. (Ken Scott – The Archivist).
