Rain (Bridge S2236) 1973?
The Bridge label usually means a decent folk album, and that’s just what these four men deliver. Mostly soft-sung tunes with simple acoustic backing, including both originals and covers. In the latter category are ‘Were You There?’, ‘Precious Memories’ (with harmonica), ‘Mary’s Boy Chile’ and ‘Open My Eyes’. Also a pair of acoustic guitar instrumentals, ‘The End Of The Road’ and ‘Follow Me’. Best songs are the ones they wrote themselves, like the ballad ‘Mary, Don’t You Cry’ and the spirited 12-stringer ‘Goin’ Home’. They really outdo themselves on the beautiful string-caressed title track. (Ken Scott – The Archivist).
