The Embellishments (CHM 53) 1968?
Another quality entry in the ‘60s folk ballad style of The Kingston Trio, The Limeliters, The Wedgwood, etc. Clean crisp zesty sound with smooth perfect harmonies complemented by guitar, banjo and double bass. A couple spirituals like ‘Wade In The Water’ and ‘Good News! Chariot’s A Comin’, otherwise it’s mostly original song-writing that’s dead-on for the genre. One guy’s got a deep bullfrog voice that surfaces for a couple brief solos, rest of the time blends in unnoticed. Totally unhip cover of three guys in blue coats, black slacks and floral ties. I know a rad psych collector that kept a copy of this one! (Ken Scott – The Archivist).
