Gentle Revolution (Avant Garde AVS 122) 1969

Some cool dreamy and commercially-viable folk/pop sounds here. Comeau’s singing comes across as frail, breathy, even a bit off key, but the Avant Garde musical backing is up to its usual high standards utilizing electric guitar, 12-string acoustic, organ, piano, with harmonica and light orchestration in a couple places, all presented in a subdued manner for a delicate flower power edge. Seven songs written by Comeau plus ‘Both Sides Now’, ‘Turn Turn Turn’, ‘Eleanor Rigby’ and ‘Suzanne’. Reminds me of Gene Cotton or fellow Avant Garder Frank Dumin. Looks like Woodstock hippies on the cover. See also Some Beautiful Day. (Ken Scott – The Archivist).
