Damascus (Eden EDN-102) 1977
The brass angle is prominent enough on this nine-man Harlan, Iowa group that you could probably classify them as a “horn rock” band. If they had cut back on the gushing strings, trumpets, trombones and such, the results might have been a lot more interesting, especially on this rather tame first lp. Still a few rock moments peeking in amidst the ballads, MOR, pop and soft jazz, although for that you’re better off heading straight to their second album. Doug Howell guests on synthesizer – he adds some decent frills to the spunky ‘Trust In The Lord’. Eleven original songs, plus a cover of John Foley’s ‘If God Is For Us’. Gate-fold cover. (Ken Scott – Archivist).
Thank you Donald for the complete set of photos for this album.
