Horizon (Sweet Spirit SS 1608) 1977

Superb Florida melodic rural and blues-edged rock private press with summery impressions of The Way’s Can It Be? and Bob Welch-era Fleetwood Mac. Horizon consists of W. C. Carter on guitar, Bob Ellis on lead guitar, Dale Henry on drums and percussion, and Jeff Swartz on electric bass. Not too light, not to heavy, with skilled electric guitar solos throughout, getting lengthy workouts alongside highlighted bass on mid-tempo cuts like ‘Light Of The World’ and ‘Look To The Son’. All songs composed by the band, including ‘New Horizon’, ‘Wings Of An Eagle’, ‘The Longest Road’ and ‘The King Will Come’. Closes with an acoustic ballad ‘All I Have To Show You’. Impressive color cover art of robed sword-bearing warrior on a horse slaying a giant serpent. (Ken Scott – Archivist).
