A Country Called Heaven (Spibreno VC-1970) 1970?
From the back cover: “Randy sings his version of modern country-rock gospel music in the name of Jesus Christ.” This home-made record definitely leans more country than rock as Randy croons through a number of his own songs, plus a few covers. Ends up sounding like a stripped down version of Johnny Cash or Marty Robbins. Randy provides all the instrumental backing here, including rhythm guitar, bass and soft electric leads. Also does his own harmonies. Smooth, but in a homey rural fireside kind of way. Subsequent albums were much more traditional, including those recorded under the name Randy Richardson & Koinonia. (Ken Scott – Archivist).
Thank you Donald for the rear cover photo.
